Westside Therapy Collective is a holistic practice that is committed to understanding and caring for all aspects of an individual. Our passion is to give voice to those who may have been quieted and instill confidence where there is self-doubt. In today’s fast-paced society, it can be easy for someone to feel like they’re falling behind, not measuring up, or not fitting in. We are committed to helping people find their unique place in the world.

We believe that personal connections are an essential part of our practice and a critical part of a person’s wellbeing. We treat all people with warmth and compassion. We truly feel honored to be able to share in the stories of our people. Our deep connections allow us to tune-in completely and to help people learn how to be more in-tune with themselves.

Areas of Expertise

Anxiety Management

Anxiety can be very consuming and hard to shake – we get it. Using evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we approach anxiety by identifying negative thoughts and physical sensations such as headaches or body tension. Afterwards, we will help you formulate a plan to decrease your anxiety symptoms.

Couples

The first step in beginning couples therapy is finding the right therapist. Our therapists help couples unpack a range of deep emotions and identify faulty patterns of communication that get in the way of the deeper messages each partner is trying to convey to the other. In order to thrive as a couple, it is important to examine individual responsibilities and commitments within the relationship.

Teens

Teens need to trust their therapist in order to grow and make progress in therapy. We really take the time to get to know them and invite them to get to know us. Our goal is to give teens a space to process their emotions, make sense of the world around them, examine their thoughts, and learn effective behavioral skills.

Trauma & EMDR

When traumatic things happen, it affects one’s ability to successfully navigate their world without fear. We use highly effective trauma treatments such as EMDR, which helps clients reprocess their trauma within a safe environment and take the “charge” out of traumatic memories. In addition, meditation and mindfulness are taught as daily coping strategies.

I see therapy as a transformational tool to help you connect deep within yourself. My top speciality is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) - a highly effective therapeutic treatment that targets traumatic memories and core thoughts. Using this technique, I have seen incredible results and pride myself on providing a safe space for my clients to grow and transform.

There are moments in our lives where we yearn for a different way of being but may not always know how to move forward. I work from a heart-centered space and I find using compassion, non judgment, and humor are foundational for the therapy journey. My role is to help you feel safe and supported while you deepen your relationship to yourself and foster inner healing and growth. Most importantly, I am a clinician that will never ask you to do any work I am unwilling to do myself. I am truly with you in this journey.

I believe that you and your body have the innate capacity to heal and evolve. With practice, awareness, and intention, awakening is possible. I am direct, compassionate, and down-to-earth in my approach and I work holistically, bringing in mind, body, and spirit into the room. While my top specialties are Somatic Experiencing and IFS/Parts therapy, I also use EMDR for trauma.

Testimonials

I am going well, better each day. Practicing gratitude, scanning, meditation, breathing, etc. You opened a whole new world to me that I didn’t know existed. Now, I feel confident that I can handle future emotional anxious feelings. Thank you!

E.K., Educator

First I wanted to thank you for a great first time ever experience with professional therapy yesterday. The whole experience was very positive and I felt like I was talking to a friend at the same time who just happened to be a professional therapist and I would definitely highly recommend you to any of my friends male or female.

J.C., Software Developer

Tannaz, ever since I started working with you I feel like I have a much better sense of self and have been able to reframe my negative thoughts. I had no idea how much they were impeding my progress, so thank you for your help. I am so grateful!

M.T., Physician

Just wanted to say thank you so much for all your help. Throughout my life, I've seen psychologists and psychiatrists and I always thought they were all pointless and terrible people with a college degree and a title that just made money off of people dwelling about the past. Then I met you. You really are a gem and helped me more than you know through a time when there was no one. I think understanding the past is important, but not to dwell on it. You always made me think of the future.

M.B., Artist

Shannon is a gifted therapist, professor, and mental health professional. I've been incredibly impressed not only by her intelligence but also by her genuine warmth.
